Guild News

With a network of over 200 food professionals and enthusiasts,
there are lots of reasons to renew or join the Guild this year.

The BIG news is that the GUILD is GROWING! You can see for yourself by perusing our website! Stay connected.

Dear Guild Members:

We are just over halfway through the Culinary Guild's year of activities. The Guild's Board of Directors has been busy planning an array of events, both intimate and larger in scale, for your information and enjoyment. We hope you have been able to attend some of our 'club' offerings — Supper Club, Culinary Book Club, and Interactive Cookbook Club meetings — as well as our larger events. Looking forward, we are pleased to present Mary Ann Esposito's special demonstration on April 24, as well as our exciting weekend visit to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York in May.

The preparation and planning for these events does not happen without the diligent work of our dedicated Board and input from our members. Currently we are seeking Guild members to fill three Board positions plus committee members:
Vice President

The Vice President performs the duties of the President in his/her absence and performs other duties assigned by the President and/or Board of Directors, such as preparing and sending out the monthly Board meeting agenda. This is a minimum 1 year term with the expectation that the Vice-President will become President during the next term.

Membership Chairperson/Committee

The Membership Chairperson along with a committee of up to four Guild members is responsible for welcoming new members to the Guild, maintaining membership records, and reaching out to prospective candidates for membership. The Membership Chairperson & Committee work with the Treasurer and the Communications Manager to update and maintain our membership database and directory and to issue, via e-mail, membership cards. The Committee also makes recommendations to the Board regarding membership categories, benefits, and dues.

Marketing Chair/Committee

Although the Guild employs a part-time Communications Manager, we need to publicize the Guild's activities and events to an ever growing audience. We are looking for people to write, proof, and edit copy for our website, newsletter, event postings, and blog. Also, the Marketing Chair will work closely with our Communications Manager and our Corporate Partners to continue to enhance the benefits we offer to our members. Other tasks include writing press releases and summaries of prior events to keep members up-to-date.
Our Board meetings always include good food and wine consumed with old friends and new acquaintances who share lively conversation and stimulating new ideas. We invite you to attend a Board meeting, usually held on the first Monday of each month. Note that joining the CGNE Board would require a minimum commitment from now until the end of the current term in August 2014.

For over thirty years the Culinary Guild has been a group bound together by our love of food, our willingness to share our knowledge and experience, and our eagerness to mentor the next generation of food enthusiasts. We all want to see the Guild continue into the future and hope you will step forward and join the Board of Directors of the Culinary Guild or one of its committees.

Sincerely,

Kris Piatt & Guida Ponte
Co-Presidents
