It is with great sadness that we must report the passing of Marguerite Marean "P.T." Thorndike, former President of the Culinary Guild, on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at 84 years, in Petaluma, CA, of complications of Alzheimer's. P.T. was a long-time resident of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA, and more recently, of San Francisco, CA.
She is survived by her daughters Persis L. Thorndike (Milford, MA), Leslie J. Thorndike Goetz (San Francisco, CA), sons-in-law J. Comstock (CO), former husband David Thorndike (Jamestown, CO).
P.T. was a very longtime member of the Culinary Guild, not quite from the beginning, but almost. She served on the board as Culinary Liaison for many years, interacting with other culinary organizations around the country, sending them the Guild Newsletter and filing the newsletters she got from the other organizations at the Schlesinger Library. She served as President of the Guild in the 1996-1997 year. In her later years, she continued to attend events with her daughter, Persis, and enjoyed seeing her old friends.
P.T. loved food, wine and good parties. In her honor, there will be a Potluck Celebration of Life on September 16, 2012 at 1 pm. The Potluck will be held at 24 Bridge Street, Manchester, MA. Guests may park at Crocker's Boatyard -- Upper Yard, 30 Bridge Street, Manchester, MA. Please bring a favorite appetizer or dessert to share.
